Unit 11 Task 2
Evaluating: Personal Characteristics, Skills, Relevant Achievements, Experience and Interests
a) Skills Audit
Personal Characteristics:
Whilst being at college I had to use my organisational skills when doing a project like filming. I had to make sure people would turn up to set on time and in the correct outfits if they are acting. I also have had to organise booking the equipment so me and my group would be able to film. So that the film I made would be handed in on time, I created a schedule to what I would do each day and made sure I followed it.
Skills:
Soft skills- I work very well in a team as well as individually. In a team I communicate to my team mates well by making sure we all know what we are doing and helping each other out. I also make sure that I voice my ideas clearly to my team mates so I am involved in the work and I have an input in it. Where as when I work individually, I find that I get my work done efficiently as I can work at my own pace and I use all of my ideas.
Hard skills- When working on a computer, I used Adobe such as Premier, Photoshop, After Effects. I have used these editing software multiple of times and I feel very comfortable using them as I know how to use most of the tools. My favourite one is Adobe Premier because I enjoy cutting down footage and putting a film together. In terms of camera equipment for photography or film making, I feel like I know all the basics to operating a camera. I like to be the cinematographer when working in a group for a film because I enjoy seeing what camera angles works well in each scene and controlling the settings such as white balance, ISO etc.
Relevant Achievments:
In 2018 I started a Level 2 Media Diploma at Long Road which was a year long course. During this course I learnt how to:

Relevant Achievments:
In 2018 I started a Level 2 Media Diploma at Long Road which was a year long course. During this course I learnt how to:
- make short film
- create a film poster
- create a vinyl album cover
- create sound effects
- make a title sequence
This course taught me a lot about media considering I had never studied it before. I left this course with a Distinction*.
Experience and Interests:
By doing the Leve 2Media Diploma course the previous year, it has given me much experience in media. This is because I gained skills and knowledge in editing, filming and photography. I can use what I learnt from this experience by using my new skills and knowledge in future projects. My main interests in media are film editing, cinematography and photography. I love to edit a film together because I find it so satisfying putting the clips and sounds together and seeing it become a film. I also enjoy filming on set because I like to be behind the camera and seeing what camera angles work best in scenes. This also applies to photography but with photography I love to capture a moment with the camera. With a camera, it can let you see more of what's going on around you more than with your own eyes which I find very interesting.
Skills that describe myself:
- Communication
- Time Management
- Creative Problem Solving
- Well Rounded
- Knowledge of Technology
b) SWOT analysis
c) As well as a SWOT analysis we would like you to plan your "Personal and Professional Development Opportunities"
I would like to develop my skills in editing films more. I really enjoy doing this as I have been proud of the work I've done before and I like working on a laptop using Adobe Premiere. However, I would like to expand my knowledge in using Adobe Premiere as I feel there are still more editing techniques I can learn so I can produce better quality work.
Another skill I would like to develop my knowledge more in is editing photos. I've edited photos in Photoshop quite a number of times and some of my work I've been proud of but some I have found difficult to do. I do enjoy doing this but as there are so many editing techniques in photoshop I would like to learn more of them as I feel I would feel more confident using the software and I would feel more proud of my work.
