TWD Title Sequence

After Effects - TV Opening Title Sequence

Audience Analysis:

The Walking Dead:

The gender of a typical audience member of The Walking Dead would be male. This is because the title sequence uses colours like black, white and red which may be more attractive to a male rather than a female as stereotypically women are into more brighter colours. This male would be 25 years old as the title sequence comes across that it is a serious show with the dramatic music and the detailed illustrations of weapons and 'Walkers'. Due to it being a serious show it would be watched by a 25 year old because people that are younger might not want to watch something so serious because it means they have to focus on the show with every episode so they know whats going on. With someone older, such as 60, they also wouldn't necessarily want to keep track of every episode as it is commitment. Camping in the woods would be this persons ideal of a holiday because illustrations of the woods is shown a lot in the title sequence which suggests the main location is the woods/forest in the show. Walkers (aka zombies), weapons, blood and fire are a key feature in the title sequence. This implies this audience member likes to watch horror movies as these features are normally in them. They also would enjoy reading books that are dark such a horror, phycological or crime. For dress sense, this person would wear casual clothes that aren't bright or too smart. Simply because the title sequence uses dark colours and it shows the audience it is a messy show with the fire and blood used in the title sequence. Even though it is a dark show which isn't to make people laugh, this audience member may watch it to distract themselves from their own worries as the show would make them realise that their life problems could be worse. From watching the title sequence, I think that the job this typical audience member would have would be someone that works outside like a farmer or builder. The reason I think this is because the title sequence shows a lot of nature like trees and birds so it means the show is located outside a lot. I can see this person believing in freedom politically because the show is about people surviving in the world with no power over them. Them having a job outside might make them relate to the show more as they see the same scenery everyday as the show does. Based on the title sequence, the show has a lot of money to spend because the title sequence is a lot of illustrations/effects and its a minute long. From this information I can say that the typical audience member would have about £50 because they are £25 years old so they would still be saving for a house or paying rent or paying f a mortgage.

Target Audiences Analysis 2:

The Walking Dead:

This shot from the title sequence indicates the genre of the show is a horror. This is because there is a human skull which represents death and the colours are very dark. As I said the colours are dark, the colour scheme is of the colours black, white and a small amount of red. These colours make the audience feel cold and scared because they aren't exactly joyful to look at. These colours are stereotypically the type of colours that are used in horror films as they symbolise gore. The shot starts of as a close up on the skull then it zooms out into a long shot. The visual of the skull would make the audience feel worried and/or scared because it indicates there is death in the show which some people find disturbing to watch. In the background dramatic and intense music is playing at a fast rate which will make the audience feel like they are on the edge of their seats and it gets them excited for the show to start.

I can tell the genre of the show is horror or thriller from this shot because of how dark it is. The audience would feel isolated from this long shot because of the visual of the person standing alone in the middle of the woods as they symbolise loneliness. The colours are the same as the previous shot so the audience will have a cold feel. However, instead of red there is a hint green in the leafs on the wall. This will make the audience feel a bit more calm as it's a natural colour. The character in this shot is a 'Walker' so this will already make the audience feel scared as 'walkers' are bad in the show as they eat/kill people. The visuals of the trees represent nature which suggests the show is filmed in rural area which can make the audience feel peaceful as theres not many people there compared too urban areas and the air is cleaner and it's quieter.
