Animation Styles
Animation One
Title - Gumbasia
Style - Claymation
Narrative or Abstract - Abstract
What Happens - throughout the whole animation shapes made out of clay forms into other new shapes or they move around. For example a square transforms into a circle then rolls away.
Why Was It Interesting - I found the animation interesting because it was satisfying to watch the shapes change into different shapes. I also liked how fast it was all happening which fit well with the shapes moving.
What Ideas Can You Take From It - I can take the use of clay from this animation by having the main features made out of that.
Animation Two
Title - A Single Life
Style - 3D
Narrative or Abstract - Narrative
What Happens - A young women starts to play a vinyl record and as the song plays she is teleported into different stages of like such as: being a child, having a baby, being elderly. She tries to change the song so she goes back to normal but its too late and it changes to her passing away.
What Ideas Can You Take From It - I like the style of the animation of the lady being an unusual shape but its made out to be normal in that animation. So I would take away the design on the animation from it.
Animation Three
Title - Early Japanese Animations: The Origins of Anime
Style - Anime
Narrative or Abstract - Narrative
What Happens - All sorts of different animals, that can do the same things as humans, play a game of baseball where a lot of events happen like clumsiness and mistakes.
What Ideas Can You Take From It - The basic design of it being black and white is what I would take from it as I like how simple but effective it is.
Animation Four
Title - The Metamorphosis of Mr. Samsa
Style - Sand
Narrative or Abstract - Narrative
What Happens - A salesman wakes up and has turned into a giant bug.
What Ideas Can You Take From It - From this animation, I would take the part of when an object or person smoothly turns into a different object or person into a different scene as I like this transition.
Animation Five
Title - The Miracle of Flight
Style - Cut-out
Narrative or Abstract - Narrative
What Happens - Back in the 1600's a man attempts to create different ways to be able to fly but never succeeds. A king gathers a bunch of scientists and forces them of a mountain as he believes they will figure out how to fly but never succeeds. Then someone invites air travel and a man is tricked into getting on the plane when in fact when he thinks he's entering the plane he is at the top of the mountain and is pushed off to see if he can fly, which he doesn't.
What Ideas Can You Take From It - I can take the effect of how simple the movements are as they are very sudden which gives it a comedic effect.
