Title Sequence Research
Documentary One
Morrison on Morrison:
The first element I took from reading the Morrison on Morrison documentary is the film title from the title sequence 'Brazil'. Morrison made the title to stand out as it is colourful and bright but with a dark background. It has an effect on it so it looks like LED lights which gives a retro feel to the title. This has inspired me to create a title sequence with a title that really stands out to the audience because I want to catch the audiences eyes which will interest them into watching the film. My target audience is people between the ages of 18 too 60. I think the bright retro colours will attract this age range because the retro side to it will make the older people feel connected to it as they would've lived through the 70's/80's which is when retro colours was trendy.
Another element, that I want to use for my title sequence, from the Morrison on Morrison documentary is the layering technique he uses. This is done by using two or three shots and layering them on top of each other so the audience can see two different locations at once for example. I like this effect because it smoothly transitions too different shots which makes it easy to watch. My chosen target audience would be interested in this title sequence because it represents the genre of the film. With the genre being crime/physiological the transitions in the title sequence will show props characters and locations which all will indicate to the audience what the film will be about. The transitions/layers allows this because I will be able to use lots of shots.
